Two Ventureprise Companies Selected as Blue Diamond Award Finalists
Awards Celebration Gathers Charlotte's Best in Technology
InfoSense, Inc. and Virtual StrongBox, two companies at Ventureprise, were selected as finalists for the 2017 Blue Diamond Awards. The awards program gathers top IT and business executives to celebrate the best in Charlotte technology.
InfoSense was selected as a finalist in the Cool Innovation category. The company was founded by UNC Charlotte electrical engineering professor Ivan Howitt, and its CEO, George Selembo, is a Ventureprise director. Using acoustic inspection technology, InfoSense provides a cost-efficient solution to assess the condition of sewer pipes and enable preventive maintenance.
Since becoming involved with Ventureprise (formerly the Ben Craig Center) in 2009, InfoSense has gained recognition as a Charlotte Venture Challenge winner and the fastest growing company on the 2015 Charlotte Business JournalFast 50 list. According to the 2015 Charlotte Entrepreneur Growth Report, “The InfoSense story illustrates the power of leveraging the inventive talent of university researchers, particularly when they collaborate with industrial partners.”
Virtual StrongBox was selected as a finalist in the Business Value-Small category. With 30 years of experience in the financial institution industry, President and CEO Ron Daly saw a need to improve customers’ online experience. He created the company to provide a forum allowing consumers to store and share sensitive documents with their banks. In December, Virtual StrongBox received its fourth patent for its state-of-the-art software, which safeguards clients’ data and that of their customers. The company became a Ventureprise client-tenant in 2016.
The Blue Diamond Awards ceremony will be April 4, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
