Reason #1 to Attend the 2014 Charlotte Venture Challenge: “Building a Billion Dollar Startup”

April 28, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Steve Blank says this about the ideas that build a billion dollar business:

I’ve now come to believe that the value proposition in a business model fits into either one of two categories:

  1. It solves a problem and gets a job done for a company (accounting software, elevators, air-conditioning, electricity, tablet computers, electric toothbrushes, airplanes, email software, etc.)
  2. Or it fulfills a fundamental human social need (friendship, dating, sex, entertainment, art, communication, blogs, confession, networking, gambling, religion, etc.)

The keynote address - “Building a Billion Dollar Startup” - will kick-off the event at 1:00 p.m. Manoj George, the founding CFO of Red Hat, Inc., and Phil Verghis, CEO and co-founder of Klever and an early executive at Akamai Technologies will share their compelling experiences building startups that grew rapidly and substantially.

Both keynote address and the following panel discussion “Getting Your First Corporate Customer,” will keep the focus on companies that started up to solve big problems.

We hope to see you there for this action packed event around ‘the entrepreneur’ and startup ideas moving forward.
