Ventureprise Announces 2018 Charlotte Venture Challenge for May 1st

Keynote speaker Thom Ruhe, NC IDEA FOUNDATION President & CEO, will share his insight on NC IDEA's strategic funding direction and the state of North Carolina entrepreneurship. The May 1st program will introduce a "new, interactive formate that focuses on promising innovation emerging from UNC Charlotte research and the Charlotte community," says Ventureprise Associate Director Devin Collins.

The 2018 Charlotte Venture Challenge will focus on Ventureprise Launch participants and showcase these innovation based ventures from the Charlotte community and UNC Charlotte researchers and students. The event will feature a keynote by NC IDEA Foundation President Thom Ruhe, followed by a panel of local startups that have received foundation funding. A reception will follow where participating ventures will showcase their innovations.

Welcome Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders (YTILI) to Ventureprise

Ventureprise welcomes three international entrepreneur fellows for a two week program to explore U.S. opportunities and participate in Ventureprise activities. The entrepreneurs are participating in the U.S. State Department Young Transatlantic Innovation Leaders Initiative (YTILI) organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Participants spend 2.5 weeks in the U.S. starting with a welcome program in Washington, DC and then a two week internships with their host organizations.

The Impact of Innovation...Charlotte Entrepreneur Growth Report

The Charlotte Entrepreneur Growth Report (CEGR) is the region’s first systematic evaluation of its diverse and rapidly growing innovation-driven entrepreneurship community. The initial 2015 edition was funded by the Charlotte Regional Fund for Entrepreneurship, a public-private, entrepreneurial initiative supported by the City of Charlotte and the NC IDEA Foundation. The report was researched and created through an effort led by Ventureprise in collaboration with the Business Innovation & Growth Council, and UNC Charlotte’s Urban Institute.

UNC Charlotte Selected as an NSF Innovation Corps Site

The UNC Charlotte proposal for a Ventureprise Charlotte Launch program was selected as an NSF I-Corps Site in a nationally competitive solicitation by the National Science Foundation. The selection also designates UNC Charlotte as one of 36 universities that are part of the NSF National Innovation Network.
